I'm in severe pain at the moment...

...But I do intend on addressing comments here before too long. And I will also be responding to this post by Chris Mooney. I cannot however, begin to say when. I took some stuff for the pain and it is quite possible that I will be asleep before too long, in spite of the coffee (yes Juniper, I am drinking coffee instead of Mate) - we'll just have to see.

The sad thing? I am in pain after deciding to get out of bed last night for cookies, while reading a comment from my partner. I stood up and there was a mild twinge of pain and before I made more than half a dozen steps it was a sharp, brutal pain that brought tears to my eyes.

I hate getting old...

And while we're waiting for DuWayne to quit whining...Dan J is learning to Shut up and Love the Religious Moderates...(Who knows how Kubrick feels about this - presumably nothing because he's dead)

Rub cookies on wound.

Cookies fix everything.

Damn, dude. Take the hydrocodone (or propoxyphene, or whatever) and rest up. We need you healthy! At least it's just our backs (and hips, and knees, and... Oh well) getting older. Our brains are just getting better!

LOL. Leave it to Toaster.

I'm kinda worried. I hope the pain doesn't persist at this level beyond today. If it does, you should probably ask your doctor to check it out.

Oh it's getting better darling, it just really sucks...

I think I would prefer to eat the cookies - they do make great pain relievers...But I am not terribly convinced about their topical anesthetic properties...

I'm going to have to disagree with Toaster, pie is clearly a superior anesthetic. Plus, it's much more amusing to imagine a grown man trying to rub pie onto his back.

Cookies may please, but liquor is quicker.

1 1/2 oz bourbon whiskey
1/4 oz lemon juice
3/4 oz sugar syrup
4 oz hot water
1 slice lemon
1 clove

Heat bourbon, lemon juice and syrup, then fill with hot water. Add a lemon slice speared with a clove. Good for treating sore throats, back pain, muscle tension, joint pain, and sobriety.

I was already loopy enough with the drugs last night...Drugs that don't mix well with booze. And I am probably going to take a lesser dose of what I had yesterday shortly.

Unfortunately, my meds just aren't conducive to drinking...

I should have known that. Could you pass the salt? My foot could use some seasoning.

No worries, I am not averse to providing reasonable advice to others.

For the record, overproof whiskey is really great for knocking out viral and bacterial infestations...I can't show you any actual evidence for that, but it sure used to help me if I was getting a cold, the flu or just ate something that was a bit off - which at that time in my life wasn't an altogether rare occurrence.

I have empirically obtained evidence that a Hot Toddy helps knock out a cold. And what Abby describes is staggeringly close to one.

I know what it's like to be getting old prematurely. I have problems with my sciatic nerve. And I'm constantly yelling at kids to get off my lawn. My sympathies, sir.

cookies and whiskey are not mutually exclusive

Also, I don't know if it's applicable to you right now, but although they *tell* you wellbutrin doesn't mix with alcohol, in my experience what they really mean is wellbutrin mixes *really fucking well* with alcohol (assuming you want to be an unimaginable lightweight).

Oh shit, I've taken Clonidine, Xanax, Ritalin and Welbutrin - as well as a BC analgesic powder (aspirin, caffeine and salicylamide)and IBU. I'm certain that I am a totes lightweight right now - hell, I'm pretty floaty without the booze...I'm just not sure my liver would appreciate the abuse much - I'm not too bad now, but I am definitely giving it a workout...

On the upside, I'm not in nearly so much pain now.
